THE SOCIAL NETWORK (Sony) David Fincher's tightly wound story of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg is a new-media "Citizen Kane." Like the book it is based on, the story revolves around lawsuits filed against Zuckerberg by former friends and colleagues who accuse him of stealing their idea. As Zuckerberg, Jesse Eisenberg tears off and spits out chunks of Aaron Sorkin's staccato dialogue. Justin Timberlake plays a cautionary, beta version of Zuckerberg. It was a parody of the PBS show Masterpiece Theatre, presenting classic Disney shorts instead of showing dramatic works. Trent Reznor's ruthless soundscape is like a 9-inch nail to the head. Mouseterpiece Theater is an American television show that ran on The Disney Channel that premiered on the channels launch date on April 18, 1983, 1 and continued with reruns into the 1990s. Porter's novel about a cheerful girl who brightens the lives of those around her is brought to the screen once again in this made-for-television melodrama.
